Our Social Justice Mission

The Community Acupuncture Project aims to create healing by providing affordable, sliding-scale, no income verification, high-quality acupuncture in West Seattle and Burien. CAP provides a cozy and professional environment for group healing. We treat patients in a respectful, trauma-informed care practice in a collective room with others seeking healing. Treatments are offered in reclining chairs and massage tables seven days a week.

We are open seven days a week.

Social justice is at the heart of our work as we provide community acupuncture to as many people as possible.

Group qi is real, and our patients tell us daily how they feel the powerful healing happening in our group treatment space that prioritizes people, justice, and health. CAP first opened in Columbia City in 2009. Our second location, in West Seattle, opened in 2011, and in 2019, we opened a clinic in Burien.

Our goal is to build resilient communities, full of healthy and engaged people, working together for a better world. We are committed to the liberation of all people and we strive to create a world free of oppression. We believe in the abolition of prisons, white supremacy, colonialism, heteropatriarchy, transphobia, and capitalism – all systems that hurt people and the earth. We are open and available to all people. We welcome those without papers, not using legal names or recently out of prison. We welcome all families and their members: babies and kids, parents, and elders. We welcome non-English speakers, new arrivals to the country, new arrivals to the city and people whose families are indigenous to this land and place. We welcome all genders of people and all sexual orientations. We welcome relationship traditionalists and relationship anarchists. We welcome workers, caregivers, artists, engineers, loners and people who need people. If you are a person, you are a part of our community and this space is for you.

All of you are welcome here.

We practice abolitionist acupuncture, which means we are aligned with movements that go to the root, propose radical change, and fight for that to become reality. We believe systemic change is necessary to achieve justice for all people. We strive to make people feel better in a daily way, so that we all can engage in our neighborhoods, families, schools, and workplaces to create a more just and equitable society. Trauma runs deep in our country, built on genocide, slavery, misogyny, and oppression. We believe community acupuncture is a powerful tool for generational healing. We see our clinic as an educational resource for people new to the movement and a community-healing space for activists needing to recharge, rest, and heal. We want a world that welcomes, includes, and encourages you to thrive everywhere. We want to actively be a part of creating and supporting that world, with you.
