Healing and Celebration at Alimentando Al Pueblo’s Back to School Bash

Sonja loved being part of Alimentando Al Pueblo’s Back to School Bash in Burien this year. We’ve featured this wonderful community organization before, and every time we’re invited to participate, it’s an honor to join their celebrations and meaningful work.

On a nearly-fall evening, the event welcomed nearly 500 people with live music, dancers, games, food, and resources—all designed to prepare families for the school year with joy and connection. Kids gathered art supplies and played games while parents and caregivers enjoyed dinner, conversations, and support from community partners.

Amid the lively festivities, three healers created a quieter space of respite. Sonja joined two other bodyworkers to offer acupuncture, massage, and healing touch for parents, grandparents, volunteers, and community partners. These moments of rest brought balance to an otherwise bustling evening and allowed participants to step away from the crowd and reconnect with themselves.

It was especially meaningful to share the space with other healers who spoke openly about their own positive experiences with acupuncture—reminding us of the many ways this practice can support both individual well-being and the broader work of community care.

From Alimentando Al Pueblo:

“A huge thank you to all of our incredible partners, volunteers, and staff who made this day possible. Because of you, it was a true success! As we look back through the photos, our hearts are filled with joy. The laughter, the energy, and the smiles on the kids’ faces reminded us why we do this work – communal joy is at the center of it all. Thank you for helping us send our kids back to school with love, celebration, and community!”

We’re grateful to have been part of a day so full of healing, joy, and community care—and we look forward to continuing to partner with Alimentando Al Pueblo in the future.
